While this is a useful feature, we do not advocate using this as a replacement for an intruder alarm. CCTV systems are primarily for recording evidence to review at a later date, while intruder alarms are designed to alert you of an incident.
Video motion detection is incredibly sensitive in order to ensure all incidents are recorded, however this also means lots of false alerts would be sent, meaning a user is less likely to check them. Alongside this, all alerts depend on your device having an internet connection, unlike most alarm alerts.
Due to this we will always recommend an intruder alarm as an alert system, as not only does it act as a further deterrent, but it is a more reliable way to prompt you to check in on your property via your cameras.
